The world is waiting for the new naval battles update, that will change the game as we know it. To be ready for this challenge, most of the nations have put on hold their war plans. They are saving weapons and food to be ready for the new resources distribution, that could lead to new wars. Some of them are using Training Wars (TW) with friendly nations to keep training their armies, and some of them are moving through allied countries (with their consent) to occupy a leased or strategic region (like Indonesia is doing in North America).
One of the few real wars going on, and probably the most interesting, is taking place in South America. Brasil, one of the top 20 countries in the game, is under attack by "Aliansa" alliance. Aliansa includes Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Paraguay. Of course this strategically important war involves also other countries. Brasil is allied to Republic of Macedonia, Georgia and France, while according to this article, at least Portugal, Serbia and Spain fought with Aliansa in one of the latest battles.
In the beginning, Brasil lost a couple of regions to Paraguay and Argentina. Later, they took their regions back and counter attacked, but at the moment everyone is keeping their own regions.
To break this stalemate, the world is looking at the other powerful country in South America: Federacion Andina.
Federacion Andina is one of the most interesting experiment in this game. Four "small" countries have decided to join in one, to co-ordinate, maximize their power and minimize the impact of the new MPP rules. For the new players, MPPs are "Mutual Protection Pacts", basically alliances between nations. Recently, game admins have set a maximum of 6 MPPs for country. So, for four allied small countries, this would mean to only have 3 other MPPs available, other than the ones between them, and to pay a lot for keeping the 6 "internal" MPPs active. Joining in one "super-country" allows them to have 6 MPPs available for other countries.
How did they do this, if the game does not allow the creation of new countries? Bolivia, Colombia and Peru let Venezuela conquer most of their regions, and joined this super-nation. Each of these countries keep one of their economically less important region to stay in the game with their political institutions and probably to welcome new players from their countries.
So, if you see Venezuela in the top 20 damage power ranking, this is why. They could not rename their country, but keep in mind that Venezuela currently stands for "Federacion Andina". Four "small" countries have become one of the most powerful nation in the game, and this allows them to discuss better MPPs (given the limit of 6 MPPs, usually bigger nations don't ally with the small ones). Last but not least, they now have better production bonus, and this is always an important plus.
jcblastor, the current Federacion Andina president, has recently confirmed their neutrality in the Aliansa-Brasil war. Federacion Andina is currently part of the APA alliance (including Canada, South Korea and India), and this alliance has a Non Aggression Pact with Aliansa, expiring at the end of January 2017. So they are not expected to join Brasil in this war, but at the same time, they are not expected to join Aliansa side for the moment: the current country president has also stated that their diplomacy is working to ensure better relationships with Brasil.
Federacion Andina could probably break the balance in this war: if one of the two sides will start to conquer new regions and become more powerful, breaking the current balance in South America, will they stay neutral?
