El 1º de marzo es en el Paraguay el “Día de los Héroes”. Se conmemora la muerte del Mariscal Francisco Solano López, en la última batalla de la guerra de la Triple Alianza.

Ocurrió en Cerro Corá en 1870, hasta donde había llegado el presidente del Paraguay y Jefe de sus ejércitos luego de 5 años de luchas y de sacrificios.
It happened in Cerro Corá in 1870, to where the president of Paraguay and Chief of its armies had arrived after 5 years of fights and sacrifices.
Francisco Solano López Carrillo (Asunción, 24 de julio de 1827 – Cerro Corá, 1 de marzo de 1870) fue el segundo presidente constitucional de la República del Paraguay entre 1862 y 1870. Se desempeñó como comandante en jefe de las Fuerzas Armadas, presidente y jefe supremo de la nación paraguaya durante la Guerra de la Triple Alianza.
Francisco Solano López Carrillo (Asuncion, July 24, 1827 - Cerro Corá, March 1, 1870) was the second constitutional president of the Republic of Paraguay between 1862 and 1870. He served as commander in chief of the Armed Forces, president and Supreme commander of the Paraguayan nation during the War of the Triple Alliance.
La Guerra de la Triple Alianza o Guerra del Paraguay llamada por los paraguayos Guerra Grande o Guerra contra la Triple Alianza y por los brasileños Guerra do Paraguai, fue el conflicto militar en el cual la Triple Alianza ―una coalición formada por el Uruguay, la Argentina y el Imperio del Brasil― luchó militarmente contra el Paraguay entre 1864 y 1870.
The War of the Triple Alliance or Paraguayan War called by the Paraguayans Big War or War against the Triple Alliance and by the Brazilian War of Paraguay, was the military conflict in which the Triple Alliance - a coalition formed by Uruguay, Argentina And the Empire of Brazil-fought militarily against Paraguay between 1864 and 1870.

El 1 de marzo de 1970 se montó un puesto provisorio del correo en Cerro Cora solo ese día se sellaron estos sobres en conmemoración al Mariscal Lopez.
