Food critics have dolled out impressive accolades on Mikla, calling it “forward thinking but deeply rooted and above all delicious”. With a full-time anthropologist on site, Mikla is a pioneer, not only in food philosophy but also in modern Turkish cuisine.

Istanbul's Scandinavian Twist


Mikla's ingredients are sourced from some of Turkey’s most obscure villages and painstakingly prepared by chef and local culinary legend Mehmet Gürs. While some restaurants find inspiration in their own backyard, Gürs' preference for Scandinavian heritage is evident in the simplicity of his cooking that combines local ingredients and modern takes on ancient cooking techniques.
