In the province of Paucartambo, Cusco, the story of Karl Lamp has become a legend for attempting to restore the Tahuantinsuyo in 1882 and being proclaimed as Viracocha.

Karl Lamp arrived in Peru in 1867, 46 years after the country's independence and 12 years before the War of the Pacific. The German immigrant settled in the province of Paucartambo, Cusco. Upon his arrival, the local lation rallied behind him. The European man even married one of the descendants of the Inca panacas and was proclaimed as Viracocha.

Gradually, the tale of Karl Lamp as the Inca and semi-god Viracocha spread to nearby places, and some believed he might be the Inkarri, seeing in him the possibility of restoring the Tahuantinsuyo. The 'German Inca' gathered around 20,000 people, with whom he managed to occupy the districts of Quispicanchi and Calca, moving towards Cusco, as stated by Luis E. Valcárcel, a Peruvian anthropologist and former Minister of Education.

The mythical Karl Lamp initiated a rebellion against the government with the idea of reestablishing the Tahuantinsuyo, but he was captured by the Peruvian militia and exiled in 1883. However, the 'German Inca' would return to Peruvian territory to continue his political campaign.

Despite his failed attempt, Karl Lamp dreamed of forging an alliance with his homeland of Prussia (modern-day Germany), and striking a pact with the 'Iron Chancellor' Otto von Bismarck to gain enough power to take control of Peru and secure the independence of his empire.

In this partnership, Prussia would provide weapons and, according to Valcárcel, Karl Lamp had even devised a plan to import supplies without detection.

"And he dreamed of a grand pact with his homeland, Prussia; an ally of his king, owner and lord of Peru, many years before the great war, he could proclaim 'Deutschland über alles.' The German supremacy in the Pacific, who knows, might have been the precursor to the global supremacy of the Reich. Karl Lamp looked far ahead and decided to travel to Europe in the shortest time, with the express purpose of negotiating with Bismarck," stated Luis E. Valcárcel in 1927.

Despite the pleas of the elders for him not to leave, Karl Lamp ignored them and embarked on his journey. Months and years ped without any news. According to rumors, some say he perished on the ship, while others claim he was inated by spies of the Peruvian state. Nevertheless, Lamp's story has become the mystical legend of the 'Blonde Inca'.
