Chelsea are preparing a move for Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie in the event their proposed deal to sign Alexandre Pato from Corinthians falls through, according to the Daily Express.

The Blues are expected to tie up the signing of Pato on loan until the end of the season on Wednesday.

But with Loic Remy set to leave Stamford Bridge and Radamel Falcao still injured, Van Persie is another short-term option for the Blues due to his supposed disillusionment with life in Turkey.

The Dutchman has netted seven goals in 18 league games since leaving Manchester United to sign a three-year deal with Fenerbahce in the summer.
